Hop and Stu are the Toad brothers that live in and run the lighthouse. The lighthouse has always been run by the toad family, and the Toad brothers are the latest in a long line of lighthouse keepers.

 

Aside from running the lighthouse, Hop also cooks for and runs the Lakeside cafe, Thimbleberry Hollow's favorite greasy spoon, located in the Keepers house right next to the lighthouse.

Hop and Stu are 1:12 scale dolls constructed from the Toad pattern in Cynthia's book, "Wind in the Willows Felt Friends". The book includes a dollhouse scale version of Toad, which can be used as-is to create the Toad brothers.
